Hurricane Harvey is a distant memory for most of Montgomery County’s residents.  As each hurricane season approaches, Montgomery County watches for the next big storm – even while residents still struggle to recover from the last one.  The fact is that it takes at least 3 to 5 years for people to recover.  After launching the Long Term Disaster Recovery Fund in 2017 after Hurricane Harvey, the MCCF board began funding projects needed by Montgomery County low income, disabled, or elderly residents to finish the recovery they had begun after Harvey.  MCCF works through the Disaster Case Managers serving Montgomery County to identify the survivors who have projects not covered by any other organization or who have received all the help they can from federal, state and other local resources.  Grants of up to $10,000 are given for home repairs, septic systems, home leveling, demolishing severely damaged structures, and appliances.
