Buddy Moorhead Memorial Scholarship

Buddy Moorhead Memorial Scholarship The Buddy Moorhead Memorial Scholarship was created in 1984 to honor the memory of Conroe High School Coach Buddy Moorhead. Moorhead, who coached the Tigers to a 29-4-1 record from 1980-1982, was honored after his death, with this scholarship in his name. The scholarship, which was given to Tiger standouts in the late 1980~s, had not been awarded in several years. The once dormant scholarship has been now been relocated with Montgomery County Community Foundation and is awarding scholarships again. Senior students selected for this award must have participated in football at Conroe High School, have a reasonable chance of success in college, be of good character, and must examplify the "spirit" of the Conroe Tigers.

Cort Martin Memorial Scholarship at Montgomery Col

Cort Martin Memorial Scholarship at Montgomery Col The Cort Martin Memorial Scholarship Fund was established with the Foundation by Tim and Deanna Martin to honor the memory of their son, Cort Martin, a Woodlands High School student who met with an untimely death in October of 2000 in an automobile/train accident in Montgomery County. College/Career scholarships are given each spring to graduates of high schools in the Conroe Independent School District. This graduating class was very special to the Martin family – Cort would have graduated in the year 2002 from The Woodlands High School. Tim, owner of a moving company, and Deanna Martin, principal at Wilkerson Indermediate School, presented the scholarship recipients with their awards at The Woodlands Awards Ceremony for TWHS graduates. The scholarships were open to students who exhibit a positive and caring attitude and community spirit.

Henry & Billie Brooks Scholarship Fund

Henry & Billie Brooks Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 out of the Brooks~ strong belief in and committment to higher education. This fund will provided need-based scholarships to citizens of the United States of America, who are residents of Montgomery County, to attend Montgomery College in Montgomery County, Texas. Selected recipients will continue to receive scholarship monies from the Fund each semester for a continuous two year period, provided that each semester during this two year period, he/she successfully completes a minimum of 9 semester hours and maintains at least a B grade point average. The first scholarships awarded from this fund will be available in 2009.

Mary Jane Hamilton Memorial Scholarship

Mary Jane Hamilton Memorial Scholarship Fund at Montgomery County Community Foundation was created to benefit need-based students from Montgomery County planning to attend Montgomery College. This endowed scholarship fund was created in memory of May Jane Harrison Hamilton who passed away on April 2, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Education was an important part of Mary’s life. Mary graduated in 1978 from Sharpstown High School in Houston, and received a BS degree in Education from The University of St. Thomas in 1982. She was an HISD elementary school teacher for 17 years. She was named Ex. Director for the PSH Foundation for the last two years of her life. This scholarship fund was created to honor her life by her loving stepmother Patti Harrison, President of the PSH Foundation. It is Ms. Harrison’s desire to memorialize Mary by assisting other students wishing to secure a college education in Montgomery County.

Shane Dickerson Carter Memorial Scholarship

Shane Dickerson Carter Memorial Scholarship was created in 2005 to benefit Montgomery County high school seniors who have demonstrated the Rotary International mission of “Service Above Self”. This endowed scholarship fund was created by Rotarian Don Carter, in memory of his beloved wife Shane Dickerson Carter, who passed away in 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Carter wished to honor the memory of Shane by inspiring young adults in Montgomery County Texas, to imagine a better world and to make a difference in that world. This endowed scholarship will provide funding for graduating seniors who have demonstrated their commitment to overcoming poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, homelessness, or other barriers to life, through their community and/or international volunteer efforts. Applicants must be able to demonstrate their committment to the “achievement of world understanding and peace through local, national, and international humanitarian, educational, and cultural programs.”
